May 23, 2016

Dear Parents,

Great job to the whole school for some great entertainment last week at the concert!  I was really proud to see everyone there and appreciate their efforts.

This is my last update of the year, so I will wind up with both weeks....

Tuesday: Pig test
Wednesday: last mass; 8th grade rocket launch (1:30)
Thursday: last day of this week

Tuesday: UNIFORMS WORN ALL DAY; graduation
Wednesday: Only shirt must be worn in the afternoon when we visit Epic
Thursday:  school dress code policy, but no uniforms necessary on Devil's Lake trip
Friday: Field Day and last day of school

Thank you all for a spectacular year!!!!  It was probably one of the easiest years on the books!  Your kids are respectful, funny and energetic young people.  Thank you for sharing them with me!

Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,

We are really winding things up now!  This week starts the end of the year activities!

Tuesday evening is our annual spring concert.  It is held in the gym and begins at 7pm.  ALL students are required to attend so please make arrangements to insure attendance.  It should be a great evening of songs from musicals, treats from the kitchen and dancing and ukulele playing!  Can't wait to see it!

Thursday and Friday is the annual safety patrol trip.  The students who help with this voluntary opportunity to serve our school are so gracious with their time.  I appreciate their efforts and know that they deserve this fun time.  Have a great time, everyone!

I emailed reminders about science articles that are due this week.  Please help me remind the kids of the importance of these articles.  We have very few grades this quarter and the articles will play a big part in the overall grade.

GRADUATION...  ALL 7th graders are required to help the night of graduation.  We need a commitment from at least one parent and the 7th grader for the evening of May 31st.  If there is a situation and you know that your child cannot attend, please immediately notify Patsy Bansley, as students are counted on to serve individual 8th grade tables.

Next week, is the pig test, rocket launch for the 8th graders and who knows what else might happen!  ;)

Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,

We are counting down the days until our annual field day event... yes it is also our last day of school, but as one of the kids said, "you are not counting down the days you are getting rid of us!"  :)  I would NEVER do that!

The pig dissection is going extremely well!  I am so very proud of each student!  They have moved out of their comfort zones and pushed through some tricky parts.  The test is scheduled for May 23rd and 24th.  The students have the study guide and I've been encouraging them to get started making notecards, etc...  Their science articles are also due on the 17th (no exceptions).

End of the year field trip is planned for June 2nd.  Permission slips will be coming home on Friday.  It is a free trip and we hope to have as many parents join us, as possible.  Pray for great weather!

Many blessings,
Kim

April 25, 2016

Dear Parents,

I hope you each received the email I sent out midweek.  There are several students who are really struggling with grades this quarter.  We don't want to end the year on a low note.  Please be sure to check mystudentsprogress.com on a regular basis.

The pig dissection is going extremely well!  I will be taking some pictures and sharing them soon.  I am so proud of each student.  Their interests seems picqued and each are determined to complete the dissection successfully!

A flyer came home about "THE HUNGER WALK" that will be happening on May 6th from 9-10.  ALL students will walk for the hour in hopes of collecting donations for each lap.  All donations will go to local charities.  Feel free to come out and cheer us on as we walk around the school.

Many blessings on a great week!
Kim

April 18, 2016

Dear Parents,

What a great play the crew put on for us on Friday night and Saturday afternoon!  Congrats go out to all who participated and thank you to all the parents who helped coordinate the week's worth of practices and performances!

The week has finally arrived....  pig dissection is finally here!  If at all possible, please try to have your child in attendance during science class each day for the next two weeks.  I want them each to have as much experience as possible.  Classes are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:20-9:00 and on Wednesday from 12:40-1:20.  It should take us about 2 weeks to work through the dissection. If you are interested, you are MORE THAN WELCOME to stop by and check things out!

I hope all is well with each family this spring!  The students are ready to start counting down the days...  I told them I wasn't sure we were ready to do that quite yet!  It is hard, but help me keep them focused on all we have to accomplish before the end draws near!

Many blessings,
Kim

April 11, 2016

Dear Parents,

Are you tired of this wacky weather? I am ready for the sun to shine and the winds to subside!  :)

The students have been working hard on their virtual pig dissection.  I am very impressed by their interest and look forward to seeing how the "real deal" will go.  I think we will aim for next Monday as our start day.  The binders are due on Thursday of this week, with completed virtual dissection sheets.  If he/she finishes early, the class period may be used as a study hall time.

The school play (a week long adventure) happens this coming weekend.  The performance happens on Friday night and there is a Saturday mid-afternoon matinee.  If your child isn't interested in performing, there are "behind-the-scenes" opportunities.

Report cards came home on Friday.  We will start talking about the various opportunities for electives next year.  Your child should be asking you to sign their sheet, please ask about the form if you haven't heard about it by Thursday.

The 7th grade is in charge of graduation each year.  PLEASE join in the fun and support our graduating 8th grade families by being an active participant in pulling off a memorable evening.  Everyone is required to get involved, so please keep your eyes open for opportunities.

Many blessings,
Kim
