Dear Parents,
A HUGE thank you goes out to all the parents who helped out with Craft Day! It was a spectacular event (as always), with lots of great comments from the kids. The new-to-the-school students were amazed at the opportunity and appreciated the fun time! :)
This week...
Monday: 2nd week of Advent prayer (8:30)
Tuesday: Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary = mass at 8:45. Please feel free to join us if you can!
Wednesday: Normal uniform and mass day
Thursday: regular day
Friday: families topic is the Birth of Christ
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the 8th graders are running a "Santa's Workshop". The 7th graders will have an opportunity to shop at some point. The schedule is giving us a little trouble, but I promise that they will have a chance to go.
Many blessings on a wonderful week!
Kim

Dear Parents,
Happy week after Thanksgiving! I hope that the weekend held family gatherings, fun and food! Being the week after Thanksgiving means we have CRAFT DAY on Friday. If you haven't sent in your money, please do so soon. THANK YOU to all who volunteer in anyway to make it a successful event!
We accomplished the goal in collecting over 3000 items for the local St. Vincent DePaul food bank. THANK YOU so much for your generosity!!! The 7th graders even won one of the competitions we had!
Thursday is the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the students from grade 3 up to grade 8. The 6-8 graders will go after lunch on Thursday.
I hope everyone has a great week!
Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents
This is the week of Thanksgiving! That being said I need to tell you how thankful I am for you and your support of me and this class. You have some amazing kids and I am grateful to have you each in my life!
The genetics projects are due at the end of class on Monday, November 23rd. I am looking for the project and the self assessment to be completed and turned into me.
Don't forget the Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday. I am ready for some yummy turkey and mashed potatoes! There will be an assembly in the afternoon.
Many blessings and LOTS of thankfulness!

Dear Parents,
I hope that you had a great weekend! I know the Badgers had the weekend off and that the Packers lost (frustrating to watch), but MY COWBOYS (Oklahoma State, that is) won! We are 10-0... crazy! Wish I could be there to watch the next two games, but I will have to settle being able to actually watch them on TV! :)
I hope the kids had fun at Prize fest on Friday. We earned over $41,000 for the magazine sale! Thank you all so much for your part in that fund raising opportunity.
The students received their project guidelines for the genetics unit. I am anxious to see what they each decide is the theme he/she want to use to create his/her "family". The project is due at the end of class on Monday, November 23rd. They have class time to work on it this week.
There is nothing in the schedule that should disrupt our "regularly scheduled program". :) I hope you all have a great week!
Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,
This week we honor those who have served and protected us throughout the years. A HUGE thank you goes out to former and current military and their families! I am so grateful for all you have done to help ensure my freedom.
Our very own, Becky Iverson, will be the guest speaker for careers this week. We look forward to hearing about her past employment and current job situation.
We started our food collection last Friday. The 6th graders are competing against the 7th graders for a prize. The teachers are competing against the 3rd and 4th graders. It will be more meaningful if the students purchase some of their own products to donate (just an idea). We are looking for anything from shampoo and diapers to mayonnaise and canola oil. We are counting by package not by weight. Friday is hat day. If a child wants to wear an appropriate hat they can pay .50 and wear the hat throughout the day on Friday.
The cell reproduction projects were awesome! I love the various creative ways that the students were able to "preform" the process of cell reproduction. We are moving on to genetics. The kids will work independently in the upcoming project.
Prize fest is Friday afternoon. The students will also enjoy the annual pig race.
I hope you all have a great week!
Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,
November is HERE! I hope you remembered to set your clocks back on Saturday night and enjoyed that extra hour of sleep! If you didn't make it to tonight's mission at St. Dennis, please join us for tomorrow session from 6:30 until 7:30. It is in the church with lots of worship music, a testimony and some follow up from Fr. Randy. Its a great time to continue to build that 1% challenge Fr. Randy has talked about at mass.
Conferences went well. I really appreciated the opportunity to tell you how things are going with your child. If you were unable to come to conferences, please let me know if you would like to touch base. I am at school by 7am each morning and would love to set up a time to catch up with you and your child.
The cell reproduction projects are due at the beginning of class on Wednesday, November 4th. I've heard some rumblings about these performances and I can hardly wait to see what they've been up to in their learning of the cell reproduction process. The self assessment is also due at the beginning of class on Wednesday. The groups will perform their projects on Wednesday. Thursday we start talking about genetics (one of my favorite topics in 7th grade).
The school food drive begins on Friday. Please start sending in those donations as soon as possible. I know there will be some competitions throughout the collection time. As a school, we are hoping to donate at least 3,000 items to St. Vincent DePaul food pantry. Thank you in advance for your generous gifts!
I think that is about it for now. Please, as always, if you have questions, concerns or comments, I am ready and willing to sit down with you.
Take care and many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,
THANK YOU SO MUCH for raising respectful, kind and fun-loving young individuals. The retreat went so well last Thursday and Friday. The 48 hour retreat was centered on Pope Benedict's quote, "The world offers you comfort, but you were not made for comfort you were made for GREATNESS!" The kids worked individually, in small groups and in a large group for their activities. The individual and small groups were done with "teams" led by a camp counselor and one of our chaperones. The large group experiences were with the whole 7th grade. It was such a fantastic experience! We are hoping that this will become a yearly tradition. THANK YOUs go out to Michelle Stram, Kristine Jaeger, Diane Neal, Beth Jennissen and Jessica Murphy who chaperoned the trip. The food was spectacular as was the housing we had!
It is a very short week! The kids are working hard on their cell reproduction (Mitosis) project. The project is due Tuesday, November 3rd at the beginning of class. Their self assessments are also due that day at the beginning of class.
Be sure to come and visit with me at conferences. I will be in the gym from 1-8 on Wednesday and 9-5 on Thursday. I look forward to catching up and talking about ways your child can continue to achieve "GREATNESS".
Costumes may be worn to school on Monday. They MAY NOT get dressed or use any type of hair product once he/she has arrived to school. We will have a costume judging assembly around 1:45 in the gym after our costume parade.
Tuesday, we have a living rosary planned for 9:00 in the church. Mrs. Brochtrup and Mrs. Boerke planned this event. We look forward to "walking" through the rosary with the school. Wednesday we get out of school at 11:30. Uniforms are still the attire of the day. We have church at 8:45, per normal schedule.
I hope all is well!
Take care and many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,
We really only have classes Monday through Wednesday this week. Should be a pretty easy week to move through...
The 7th graders are currently working on their cell reproduction PERFORMANCE projects. They've broken into groups. I am excited to see how they turn out! The projects are due on November 3rd at the beginning of class.
Science articles are due on Tuesday for the 7th graders. If you are curious how many more articles your child must complete feel free to contact me or take a look at mystudentsprogress, as I updated that Sunday.
We leave on Thursday morning for a retreat at Camp Gray. We will be there over night and come home on Friday before the end of the school day. About the only piece of information I know is they are not to bring electronics and they will need a sleeping bag and pillow.
Friday is the end of the quarter! Can't believe the 1st quarter is over already!
Saturday is the annual Halloween party in the gym. The kids always look forward to this evening! I hope you have a great time!
Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,
What a crazy football weekend! The Badgers and Oklahoma State sure waited until the last minute to win their respective games! It was a beautiful day for the Packers to play today!

Mr. Scott Theis' (our head building maintenance man) last day at St. Dennis is Thursday. He is leaving to work on the farm with his dad and uncle. We will miss him a lot! We wish him well and are so grateful for his 9 years here at St. Dennis.
Picture re-take is on Thursday of this week.
UPCOMING INFO:
*7 news articles due next Tuesday. I updated the mystudentsprogress grades for each student. If you log on you can check to see how many more articles your child owes before next Tuesday.
*Due to the overnight trip to Camp Gray is next Thursday and Friday, our end of the quarter is Wednesday next week. Be sure your child is caught up on all missing work.
Have a great week!
Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,
I hope you've stayed warm on this weather-changing weekend! :)
This week is really busy! Below you will find the testing schedule AND any other activities going on. Please read it thoroughly. If at all possible, please have your child at school, rested and fed well. Students are allowed to bring a healthy snack for themselves each day; there will be an opportunity to eat it during a break each morning of tests.
Monday: 8:20-10:30 TESTING: (1 math and vocabulary); regular math, SS and reading classes
Tuesday: 8:20-9:50 TESTING: (1 math and spelling and capitalization); regular math and electives classes (Happy St. Dennis Feast Day)
Wednesday: NO TESTING: church at 8:45; reading from 9:30-10:00; NED yo-yo assembly at 10:00; regular math and study hall; middle school students meet with Edgewood students from 1:30-2:00
Thursday: 8:20-10:30 TESTING: (1 reading, written expression and computation); regular math and electives classes
Friday: NO TESTING: classes remain on the normal schedule
NEXT WEEK WE WILL TEST MONDAY AND TUESDAY MORNINGS.
We only have 2 1/2 weeks left of this quarter. If your child has not started their science articles, it would be a smart idea to get those going.

Dear Parents,
This is going to be a very "regular" week. Nothing really on the radar, which can be very welcomed! Hopefully we'll have a couple chances to watch the Pope's visit to the U.S. at some point.
The cell projects, their connections and their self assessments are due on Tuesday at the end of class. I am excited to see all the creativity!
Wednesday is a prayer service instead of mass. Fr. Randy and Fr. Allam will be out of town. Uniforms are still required.
Last push for the donations for the soldiers. Even a little bit helps!
Friday the students will talk about the Beatitudes during families.
Have a great week!
Many blessings,
Kim

Hello Parents,
I sure hope you have enjoyed the 4-day break! As of Tuesday, we don't have another break until the end of October! By then it will be fall and we will be enjoying the colorful leaves and much cooler days! I am a huge football fan and am so glad the games have started! (I was a marching band geek all the way through my years at Oklahoma State, so fall means a double :) for me!)
Monday: Happy Labor Day! Thanks for all those who help keep us safe and healthy!
Tuesday: We have an all-school blessing at 9am at the flag pole; SCRIP due by 10am; 7th graders will receive their first science project (building a cell).
Wednesday: 1st day of wearing uniforms; Mass is at 8:45, we would love to have you join us!; Back-to-School cupcake social in the evening, please stop by the gathering!
Thursday: Magazine QSA (the yellow sheet) is due if the student wants to earn credit.
Friday: First family gathering
I hope you all have a great week! Many blessings,

Dear Parents,
Whew, we made it through the first day! Yes, we did! :) The 7th graders were awesome! I look forward to seeing how this week goes!
Monday: The kids will get their newly revised schedules. I appreciated all their flexibility and fairly positive attitudes towards the new situation. We are also meeting with the whole middle school for a "meeting of the minds" at 10:30. We will discuss homework club, athletic eligibility, tardies, and a variety of other aspects of middle school. The 7th graders will get their news article notebooks, as well.
Tuesday: Don't forget that it is SCRIP day!
Wednesday: There is NO mass. The students will meet their families during that time. The students are to wear their uniforms as will be the normal Wednesday routine. The 5th-8th graders will meet at 1:15 to learn about the magazine sale kick-off.
Thursday: This is the last day of the school week. NO SCHOOL due to Labor Day weekend! Enjoy your 4 day holiday!
Couple reminders I mentioned to the kids on Friday:
*If he/she wants to bring a birthday treat it needs to have the ability to be handed out at the end of the day. We don't eat in the lab for obvious reasons. (mostly due to PIG DISSECTIONS, OWL PELLET DISSECTIONS, etc...)
*We have 3 new students in our class! Assani Berkeley-King is coming from O'Keefe, Aidan Handel is coming from Edgewood and Grace Jaeger comes from Blessed Sacrament. I am sure looking forward to getting to know them and their families better throughout the year.
If you ever need to get in touch with me remember:

Many blessings!

Dear Parents,
It begins this week! Can you believe it? It all starts on Thursday with "Gear Up Day". Come in, drop your stuff off, take pictures, pay the bills, etc... I look forward to seeing you all! Friday is a 1/2 day. I am really glad for this day. It will help us to hit the ground running on Monday!
I'm looking forward to a great year with your children!
Many blessings,
Kim
