May 23, 2016

Dear Parents,

Great job to the whole school for some great entertainment last week at the concert!  I was really proud to see everyone there and appreciate their efforts.

This is my last update of the year, so I will wind up with both weeks....

Tuesday: Pig test
Wednesday: last mass; 8th grade rocket launch (1:30)
Thursday: last day of this week

Tuesday: UNIFORMS WORN ALL DAY; graduation
Wednesday: Only shirt must be worn in the afternoon when we visit Epic
Thursday:  school dress code policy, but no uniforms necessary on Devil's Lake trip
Friday: Field Day and last day of school

Thank you all for a spectacular year!!!!  It was probably one of the easiest years on the books!  Your kids are respectful, funny and energetic young people.  Thank you for sharing them with me!

Many blessings,
Kim

May 16, 2016

Dear Parents,

We are really winding things up now!  This week starts the end of the year activities!

Tuesday evening is our annual spring concert.  It is held in the gym and begins at 7pm.  ALL students are required to attend so please make arrangements to insure attendance.  It should be a great evening of songs from musicals, treats from the kitchen and dancing and ukulele playing!  Can't wait to see it!

Thursday and Friday is the annual safety patrol trip.  The students who help with this voluntary opportunity to serve our school are so gracious with their time.  I appreciate their efforts and know that they deserve this fun time.  Have a great time, everyone!

I emailed reminders about science articles that are due this week.  Please help me remind the kids of the importance of these articles.  We have very few grades this quarter and the articles will play a big part in the overall grade.

GRADUATION...  ALL 7th graders are required to help the night of graduation.  We need a commitment from at least one parent and the 7th grader for the evening of May 31st.  If there is a situation and you know that your child cannot attend, please immediately notify Patsy Bansley, as students are counted on to serve individual 8th grade tables.

Next week, is the pig test, rocket launch for the 8th graders and who knows what else might happen!  ;)

Many blessings,
Kim

May 2, 2016

Dear Parents,

We are counting down the days until our annual field day event... yes it is also our last day of school, but as one of the kids said, "you are not counting down the days you are getting rid of us!"  :)  I would NEVER do that!

The pig dissection is going extremely well!  I am so very proud of each student!  They have moved out of their comfort zones and pushed through some tricky parts.  The test is scheduled for May 23rd and 24th.  The students have the study guide and I've been encouraging them to get started making notecards, etc...  Their science articles are also due on the 17th (no exceptions).

End of the year field trip is planned for June 2nd.  Permission slips will be coming home on Friday.  It is a free trip and we hope to have as many parents join us, as possible.  Pray for great weather!

Many blessings,
Kim

April 25, 2016

Dear Parents,

I hope you each received the email I sent out midweek.  There are several students who are really struggling with grades this quarter.  We don't want to end the year on a low note.  Please be sure to check mystudentsprogress.com on a regular basis.

The pig dissection is going extremely well!  I will be taking some pictures and sharing them soon.  I am so proud of each student.  Their interests seems picqued and each are determined to complete the dissection successfully!

A flyer came home about "THE HUNGER WALK" that will be happening on May 6th from 9-10.  ALL students will walk for the hour in hopes of collecting donations for each lap.  All donations will go to local charities.  Feel free to come out and cheer us on as we walk around the school.

Many blessings on a great week!
Kim

April 18, 2016

Dear Parents,

What a great play the crew put on for us on Friday night and Saturday afternoon!  Congrats go out to all who participated and thank you to all the parents who helped coordinate the week's worth of practices and performances!

The week has finally arrived....  pig dissection is finally here!  If at all possible, please try to have your child in attendance during science class each day for the next two weeks.  I want them each to have as much experience as possible.  Classes are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:20-9:00 and on Wednesday from 12:40-1:20.  It should take us about 2 weeks to work through the dissection. If you are interested, you are MORE THAN WELCOME to stop by and check things out!

I hope all is well with each family this spring!  The students are ready to start counting down the days...  I told them I wasn't sure we were ready to do that quite yet!  It is hard, but help me keep them focused on all we have to accomplish before the end draws near!

Many blessings,
Kim

April 11, 2016

Dear Parents,

Are you tired of this wacky weather? I am ready for the sun to shine and the winds to subside!  :)

The students have been working hard on their virtual pig dissection.  I am very impressed by their interest and look forward to seeing how the "real deal" will go.  I think we will aim for next Monday as our start day.  The binders are due on Thursday of this week, with completed virtual dissection sheets.  If he/she finishes early, the class period may be used as a study hall time.

The school play (a week long adventure) happens this coming weekend.  The performance happens on Friday night and there is a Saturday mid-afternoon matinee.  If your child isn't interested in performing, there are "behind-the-scenes" opportunities.

Report cards came home on Friday.  We will start talking about the various opportunities for electives next year.  Your child should be asking you to sign their sheet, please ask about the form if you haven't heard about it by Thursday.

The 7th grade is in charge of graduation each year.  PLEASE join in the fun and support our graduating 8th grade families by being an active participant in pulling off a memorable evening.  Everyone is required to get involved, so please keep your eyes open for opportunities.

Many blessings,
Kim

April 4, 2016

Dear Parents,

Well, I think we saw all 4 seasons this weekend!  Strange weather!  At least on Sunday, it was beautiful!

The virtual pig dissection seems to be going well.  I hope that the kids have shown you what we are working on each day.  Feel free to have them log on at home and show you what we are accomplishing.  The actual pig dissection will probably start mid-week next week.  You are welcome to stop in and check it out.

Report cards will come home on Friday.  We are heading into the ending stretch of the year!

Many blessings,
Kim

March 28, 2016

Dear Parents,

I hope that everyone had an absolutely wonderful Easter week.  I am so grateful for the "downtime" and am ready to hit the "ground running" into the end of this year!  Can you believe that I can say that? ...end of the year!  Crazy, time flies when you are having fun!

3rd quarter ends on Friday.  There are many students who still have several outstanding assignments, please help me keep each of them focused going into the last quarter.  It is amazing how quickly grades can drop due to incomplete or missing work.  We struggle to assess students if work is not turned in to us.

We are starting the Virtual Pig Dissection this week.  The program is found online and it will be completed at school.  There should not be any reason students should need to work on this outside of school, unless he/she miss days of school.  Our actual pig dissection starts around April 11th.  If there are appointments, etc... scheduled from April 11th - April 25th, please try and schedule them outside of science class time.  It will make completing this part of the curriculum much more helpful.

Have a great week!
Many blessings,
Kim

Happy spring!!!!

I hope everyone remembered to "jump forward" this weekend!  I was blessed by all the helpers I had show up on Saturday to work in the garden!  We accomplished a lot!  Thank you to everyone who came to help!

Don't forget news articles are due this week on Thursday!

We have a great St. Patrick's Day celebration on Thursday with a Irish Dance presentation!  It is at 9:30 in the gym.

Friday we have families (planned by Derrick and Ethan H.) and then will go as families to walk through the Stations of the Cross in the church.  Feel free to join us if you can!  The afternoon will be spent completing our Jump rope for Heart activity.

I hope everyone has a blessed Easter week off!  Know that you all will be in my thoughts and prayers during this time of celebration!

February 29. 2016

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful sight Saturday was?!  The beautiful sunshine and the warmer weather sure made me hungry for spring!  I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy it!

As we get closer to spring, the students start to "relax" a little bit in their responsibilities.  Please help me, help them to stay focused.  We only have a few more weeks of 3rd quarter (it ends just after spring break).  7 science articles are due on March 17th.

The students have a mini project (based on molting) due on Thursday at the end of science class.  They must turn in a rough draft and a final copy of their project.  I am excited to see what creativity will be shown in their story telling.

Trivia Knight is Saturday night.  We are still looking for volunteers to help in a variety of ways.  PLEASE contact Tiffany Leck (tiffany.leck25@gmail.com) I promise it is going to be a GREAT evening of fun, laughs and memory making!

Many blessings,
Kim

Dear Parents,

We finished up the 2nd quarter on Friday!  We've made it to the half way mark, can you believe it?

The 7th graders MAEFAR project is due on Thursday at the end of class.  Many are finishing up early, so I hope they use their time wisely working on other assignments.  I hope to hang the projects up in the halls for CSW, so be on the lookout for them.

The spelling bee is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:00 in the church. Please feel free to join us and support those competing.

Report cards come home on Friday!  I hope to see you all on Friday night at the big party.

Finally, CSW starts on Sunday morning at 9am for church.  If your child comes, please have them wear their uniforms.  Mr. Curley is also interested in having as many students as willing to sing in the choir.  Please contact him if your child is interested in singing during mass.  Next week's plans are posted on the website.  I will have a brief run down on the update next week.  Looks like some really fun plans in the making!

Dear Parents,

The 7th graders continue to work on their MAEFAR science projects.  These projects are due at the end of class on the 28th (next Friday).  The students are using their time wisely in class and I am proud of each of them.

If your child has me for reading (we read the Hobbit this quarter), their projects are due on the 22nd.  I look forward to seeing what they create for the "portfolio".  We will start new reading classes on Monday, January 25th.

If you haven't paid the small fee for Catholic School Week activities and filled out the permission slip, please do so asap.  We are all looking forward to the week of fun and activities!

The ski trip paperwork came home last week.  Be sure to put February 18th on your calendar!  It is going to be a great day!

Many blessings,

January 11, 2016

Dear Parents,

I hope we all enjoyed the warmer weather last week.  Looks like this week is going to be a bit chilly! I am sitting here writing this while the Packers are leading the game 24-18... let's hope it ends on a good note!

The 7th graders have 7 articles due on Tuesday.  I will not be accepting any late work, so please remind your student to turn those notebooks in on time.

We are in the midst of planning for Catholic Schools Week.  If you haven't sent in your $8 to cover various fees for the week, please do so soon.

We do not have school on January 18th.  Enjoy the day off!  I will post an update (with hopefully the run down of CSW) on Tuesday.

Many blessings!

Kim

We did it!  We made it to 2016!  I hope everyone had a restful, relaxing and rejuvenating vacation!  It seemed to go a little too fast for me, but being with family was wonderful!

This week we will hit the ground running and work to finish up this quarter in good standing!

There are no out-of-the-ordinary events this week.

Many blessings,
